Finding #7 — K-5 Enrollment Discrepancy — 9-Student Gap Between District Documents

Severity: high · Category: enrollment · Last updated: Feb 27, 2026 · Dollar amount: 9 students

Summary

The district's planning spreadsheet uses 1,172 K-5 students to set teacher ratios. The New England School Development Council study shows 1,181. Both are district-published documents.

Detail

The K-5 Class Size Requests spreadsheet (Link #5) uses 1,172 students to calculate teacher allocation (65 teachers at 18.0:1). The district's own New England School Development Council Enrollment Projection Report (Link #8) shows K-5 2025-26 as:

K=180, 1=183, 2=185, 3=202, 4=222, 5=209 = 1,181 students

Both are district-published documents. The lower 1,172 figure used for budget planning was never reconciled against the New England School Development Council figure of 1,181.
